Paul VI Residence

Bathurst, New Brunswick

A new home for Eudist formation.

A Work of Formation

Opened in 1967, Paul VI Residence replaced the aging Saint John Eudes Juniorate building. It offered young people considering an Eudist vocation a place for human and Christian growth. As recruitment declined, it also housed boarders from Bathurst College. This arrangement did not meet expectations, and in 1973 the Eudist authorities changed the house’s purpose and rented out the property.

In the fall of 1966, Bishop C.-A. LeBlanc blessed the new formation house, accompanied by Fernand Lacroix, Superior General, and Denis Jacob and Édouard Boudreault, Provincial Superior. Father Roger Valois was appointed director.
